Ok for young (9+) kids?

I have kids that are huge minecraft and notch fans. Is this movie appropriate or does it have a bunch of cussing?

Not that cussing is the end of the world, I am just trying to decide if I should pass on it until they are a bit older?

It seemed very appropriate and I can't remember any. xD

It depends on what you're comfortable with. I think it would be OK for 11+, but that might be just because I was looking at it for my 11-year-old nephew. There is a warning on the movie's website re: adult language. It starts around 12 minutes in, with this webcomic (which includes the words "a**" and *beep*

http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2010/9/17/

It is too bad, they could have just blurred the words out since you don't need them exactly quoted, to get the humor... and it was just to give some context to the interviewee. There is supposed to be a family-friendly alternate audio track available with download or DVD, but I've only watched it online.

There's a couple of minutes of POV video with real-life players exclaiming stuff like, "Oh Jesus that scared the crap out of me!" "Oh sh*t, oh sh*t, oh sh*t-- holy sh*t bro." "Oh my god." A couple of isolated instances of in-play video from featured interviewees: "Oh Christ Almighty, there's a creeper." "This thing is *beep* enormous."

Not cussing but an odd anecdote from the art director saying how he and the creator/founder, Markus, hit it off immediately, joking about prostituting themselves to elderly men. Later the same guy makes a comment about how if he were Markus, he would be snorting blow off hookers' asses. It's there because right after this is a brief, mild party scene (music & champagne at the office) which is discussed at a meeting the next day where Markus says he doesn't remember the party and a co-worker deadpans, "Cocaine is a heck of a drug" as if Markus went crazy partying (which he presumably didn't/wouldn't). There are other references to social drinking and incidental moments in bars, or drinks on tables.

In other interviews there isn't much. Using "God" as an exclamation or emphasis, similar to "wow." More than once, someone gets frustrated trying to fix a bug in the game and humorously curses, "Damn it!" or "Damn it, damn it, damn it!!" Overall I'm impressed by how polite and well-spoken everyone is (except for that one guy), and how articulate they are about their appreciation of the game, the players, and its creator. And for the team at Mojang, how they work together and respect/appreciate each other, etc.

While my nephew is already aware of these "bad words" (thanks in part to Minecraft user videos), his parents prefer that he not be exposed to them unnecessarily. But there is so much that kids would enjoy and be inspired by and learn from, even the "boring" history, theory, and business stuff (if they are at least 9 or 10), I still don't want to rule it out. Kids are a big part of the movie, with families enjoying the game together, teachers using it at school, etc.

Anyway, hope that helps. If there was any questionable content in the ending credits, I missed it. The credits are cool because it's like a directory to all the user videos referred to in the body of the movie. I felt like I had seen what I needed to from those before so I didn't watch closely. There is no sound on the videos at this point, it's covered by the closing music.

There is one guy in the movie that most of the obscenity comes from. He's also the only guy that chose to have his face cut out of it.

I don't even know why they added his interviews to the movie, they're only like 1 minute of the film's total time and add nothing at all to the story, but account for about 80% of the film's total obscenities.

Bonehead move by the film makers.
