His son

I know this sounds silly but does anyone else wonder why he wants main custody of his son so much? I know that sounds wrong but his son is such a little *beep* that doesn't even want to know him. I don't think a real father would fight so hard to have someone who makes his life so miserable.

Answered your own question there in the title of your post didn't you?? 'His son'.

You Just Brought A Gun To A Bomb Fight, Officer!!!

reply

I get that of course but wouldn't he prefer a happy son?

I agree with you somethingtoomany.

His son, clearly played by a very good actor, is the most annoying and unpleasant little brat I have seen on tv in a long time. I would be more than happy to give him back to his mother, or alternatively taught him some manners, and also taught him to call his father Dad or Daddy, and his mother Mum or Mummy. That boy needs some serious discipline!

reply

he is becoming even more annoying, Book club....

reply

Would his wife get the house if he lost custody of his son? I thought that they kinda joked about that.

I know this sounds silly but does anyone else wonder how a top officer in the MI5 is able to get away with throwing shurikens at the new recruits? I don't think the real MI5 would allow such buffonery, unless of course the last name is Bond.

reply

Yes, it does sound silly.

You don't really think this is actually based on the real MI5 do you? Please tell us you are not that naive.

That's the beauty of it all, so damn funny the waythat actor does the part. I mean Tim goes into an interview and they slide a gun across the table to him. F'in fantasticly funny

The son parts are getting a little too OTT now thats its bringing the other wise great show down.

reply

Agreed.

I'm only on episode 3 and, it's okay to center the show around a loveable loser like Tim, but I find myself not really enjoying the "domestic" part of the show nearly as much as the strange, quirky group of people at MI-5.

The actor playing the son was brilliant, he really made me cringe as a parent, and it made me wonder too about why fight for someone who clearly doesnt want to be with you. That is until the last show when we all find out the truth. made it even better to see Tim fight for him.

wait...your name is Paula Abdul?

There is a moment during the last minute or two of the series which has me puzzling over how the son feels about his father. Both cannot see the expression on either's faces, but those looks say something, I am just not sure what. It's up to interpretation I guess. The boy could be thinking that he does belong with his dad or the look could mean wait until I unfold my latest plan against you.

I totally agree with you, i just wanted to give the son the benefit of the doubt and say it was joy at staying

After finishing the series, I revised my opinion on the kid (especially in that last minute of episode 6), but do hope there is a bit more MI-5 story next series.

Loving one's children even when they are hard to like comes with being a parent. Ask your mother or father, they'll have plenty of stories about the times you were a little *beep* but they kept you anyway.

We could also get into why would Tim have married Judith to begin with, but this show can't bear too much analysis. It's for fun.

reply

Kid was unlike-able in the first three eps, but as things go on (I am in the middle of the second series) he is really just a wicked smaht kid, with ambitions and a really high bar. He is not just some knob who single-mindedly hates his dad. So, my mind got changed too...

only thing that has not changed...Examiner was frigging hilarious from minute one...and always is :)

I just started watching it on Hulu. I am two episodes in and I am honestly not sure if I can get past the fact that I want to beat this little brat every time he speaks long enough to watch the 3rd. Will I lose too much of the plot if I fast forward through all of the family related crap?
