Awful plot with some shiny visuals and set pieces.

For all the fancy cgi the screenplay didnt even try a bit.

How did the queen get on the first base?
How did they transport her out?
How did she take over?
Where did all those bugs come from?
Why would you board a ship which you know is home to a bug army?
Why not fall back and wait for some serious backup?
How did the queen take control over the ship?
Why would you allow an enemy ship to land on earth or even get anywhere close to it?
Why is trooper armor made out of paper?
Why did everybody die like ants whens approaching their own ship on earth?
Why launch a rescue mission that will cost you 100x more men than you can save.
Stabbing the building block sized queen once with a butter knife was all that was needed, *beep* really?

Questions keep piling over but not a single answer in sight, for every 5 minutes the move introduces another nonsensical and idiotic plot direction.
Shame, the early parts were kinda ok, but i cant say it kept my interest towards the end.

Most of these questions are actually answered in the film.

1: Ok that I don't know.
2: Probably a cargo crate or something. Apparently she let them capture her, but they didn't know it.
3: She took over when she "hacked" Carls brain and learned everything about operating The John A Warden
4: The were brought aboard the same time the queen was. They were Carl's secret project.
5: They didn't know it was hosting a crapload of bugs because of how classified the mission was. They were given virtually NO intel on the mission. It's not clear if even Rico knew anything about what Carl was doing.
6: She destroyed the backup ship they attempted to fall back to. After that they had no place to back up to and when they did attempt to defend the bridge, that didn't work too well.
7: See question 3.
8: They didn't allow the ship to get through. They sent three others to intercept it. It just turns out the Warden is that tough.
9: Because humans are still pretty stupid in this series.
10: Only Dougherty died during the re-entry. The bigger question is what killed him and why didn't anybody else, especially Carmen who was much less protected.
11: Again, nobody knew it would be that lethal.
12: I don't remember the ending well enough to answer that. I can't remember if the ship was ultimately destroyed or not.

Personally, I found the opening bit more confusing than the later parts.
