I can't lie...

This movie was ridiculous! First problem I had was, why was she swimming naked and then laying around the lake naked? I'm not one to say a woman's asking for it but I expend alot of energy worrying for the protagonists. They need to work with me a little. Not be running around naked when their Dad was murdered by the neighbor and their Mom just died.

Not having dialog wasn't brave, it was stupid. As someone else said, I questioned if the kid was retarded or mute and still do. I think there was even and incestuous vibe going on as well.

Definitely feminist garbage no-one can dispute that.

We're in the pro-feminism/pro-gay era for sure

Because she thought she was alone. Why should she wear her dress if she is spontaneously going for a swim and a sunbath in gorgeous nature.

First things first. She did not know her mom was dead and her dad was murdered a long time ago while she was a little girl. Maybe she can not even remember that very clearly. So what. She was not in any way asking for it. She was fighting as best as she could against it. She was not even running around naked. She was just skinny dipping on a beautiful day.

He should have announced his presence to give her a chance to get dressed. But he was just sneaking up on her, startling her into inactiveness. And then the next second he was brutally raping her. What he did was unforgivable.

Not having dialog wasn't brave, it was stupid. As someone else said, I questioned if the kid was retarded or mute and still do.

There was dialog. And it was enough. Everything that really had to be said was said. I don't know why you need more. And The Boy was neither retarded nor mute. He was just a boy that did not feel the need to constantly talk like Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone.

I think there was even and incestuous vibe going on as well.

And that is the only thing you got right. But you don't even know why. But I will tell you. The Hunter was the half brother of The Girl. So he was raping his half sister. And that is called incest.

Bringhimup, i agree w/ you 100%. word for word. it's bizarre to me that people are hating the movie because it didn't have tons of dialogue and exposition. i found the limited dialogue to be refreshing. the actors/actresses were extremely talented enough to convey what needed to be said/conveyed in any given scene.

i loved the movie (the rapes made me sick but rape IS sick).

Takes a genius to rebut me with the above quote. When you're outside, the likelihood that you'll be seen is higher than acceptable. And as for "gorgeous nature," ummm... only an eccentric woman, a gay man or someone who likes to argue would base an argument on that.

Ask me how many times in my life, I've decided that I had to go swimming nude, because I was overtaken by "gorgeous nature." In most civilized cultures, it's illegal to be nude in public... why do you think that is? I'm sure part of the reason is that it may incite crime, as well as being offensive to alot of people. It would definitely stir hormones, which would certainly increase the incidents of rape.

As human beings, we recognize mitigating factors and her actions, compared to a fully clothed woman outdoors, made her(to a small degree) less sympathetic.

The celebrated but unrealistic level of dialogue is the only explanation for how this girl was so naive to think she was safe to lay out nude. Because the movie wanted to impress you pretentious people, it portrayed the mom as obviously lax. Don't parents normally warn their kids of bad people and danger? She wasn't allowed to speak, so she couldn't share her knowledge with the kids I guess.

It had an awkward, unrealistic lack of dialogue and anyone not trying to be argumentative would agree.

A normal person had to feel dread when she was swimming and laying out naked... that's what I'm saying. It's an invitation to trouble and her reaction to the attacker was misleading, she let him look at and touch her. She only reacted negatively when he tried to initiate sexual advancement. It's even possible that he wouldn't have raped her, if she would have reacted normally, and tried to cover up(dress) and retreat. It could be argued that in his mind, she lead him on and that her physical attack on him, hurt his pride, which angered him.

Also, bringhimup, you're air of superiority is unnecessary, because I understand incest and gave you no reason to think different. I have a brother and a sister and we never sat around holding hands and petting each other. If the mother had not been so involved in being mute those kids wouldn't have been so awkward and naive about things.

The bottom line is, I love women and would never hurt and would always defend them. It hurt me that she got attacked and part of my process is to say "girl, why'd you have to be outdoors naked? Maybe, I wouldn't have had to anguish over your pain if you hadn't been."

LOL, sorry but no. I'm neither an eccentric woman, nor am I gay nor do I like to argue. But I like to rebut you with this nevertheless. The reason is simple. If you live in a city or even a small village you are more or less right. It's very probable that someone will see you naked on the outside. But she lives in an alpine cabin. Way outside the village. There was a very small chance to get seen naked at the lake that was even more remote and unfortunately that small chance had won.

And your "In most civilized cultures, it's illegal" is just not really a valid view point. In Europe it is just not illegal in general. It might be illegal in your country and many others. But that is not crucial here. Because even in countries like the United States people are going skinny dipping even if it is illegal and they mostly do it in "gorgeous nature". Because otherwise it would not be as much fun ;-)

And lets not forget that this is playing in central Europe and not in the more general prudery of the US or even in a country like India. Here in Europe nakedness is not an invitation for getting *beep* by random people without any form of consent just because they see you naked. Otherwise there would be brutal rape orgies on many european beaches. ;-)

And what is a normal person. A normal US citizen? I did not feel dread for seeing her swimming and laying out naked. But I'm a german. For us that is more or less normal. And her reaction might be misleading for someone from a more prudish background. But it was more or less normal for someone who lived a little reclusive and was just not a people person in a central European country. She was just perplexed. She had just not estimated to be seen by someone who was sneaking up on her and just touching her. THAT is the unnormal. To sneak up on her and to just assault her.

Why did he even feel the need to sneak up on her. That is an assault in the first place. She was all alone by herself. Totally innocent. There was no reason at all to think that she would welcome just a random person to come along and *beep* her. I don't get why you are laying any blame on her side at all. She did nothing wrong. She did not ask for it. She did not invite him at all. It was a brutal crime against her. And I'm absolutly sure it would have happened even if she would have been fully clothed. She was all alone. No one could help her at all. It was just the perfect opportunity for a person sick in the mind.

And I did not try to sound superior. I really believed that you did not get the point that he was her half-brother.

SPRMNT, the fact that she FOUGHT HIM TOOTH AND NAIL should have given him a friggin clue.

Agreed! The film was definitely a feminist creation. Every man was either an evil rapist, or a coward; and every female was brave, strong, and had to constantly worry about some man coming after her. Hell, the filmmakers even seemed to be sending an anti-gun/anti-hunting message. Overall, the film was a joke.
