Last season was terrible

All that excitement waiting for the next season and instead we get two mediocre episodes and a unwatchable one. The Miley Cyrus episode is the worst of the entire series. Possibly of any anthology series. It's something a old man who's trying to stay relevant but who has no idea what young people like and have they behave would write.

Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams and the new season of The New Twilight Zone are much better than the last season of Black Mirror. Hell, even the mostly mediocre first season of The New Twilight Zone and the bland Amazing Stories reboot are still better.

They focus too much on happy endings. What is so endearing to me about the original Twilight Zone were the episodes where the protagonist loses due to his or her own poor choices or powers beyond their control. Most of the BM episodes end without any visceral thoughts lingering in your mind afterwards.

Yes, The problem is they listened too much to people saying the show was "too depressing" so they tried to make it more mainstream and they lost what made the show good as a result.

I wonder where Netflix does their test audiences. They must be recruiting a bunch of youngins who don't have enough years under their belt to grasp human issues that affect all of us, not just teen angst.

I don't think it was Netflix that ruined the series, Charlie Brooker has stated many times that he doesn't want to write darker stories anymore. He also won't let other people write for the series.

Indeed, but the previous season was kinda disappointing too. Oscar-worthy compared to Season 5, but a big step down compared to Season 3:

Hang The D.J. - A great episode and easily the best in the season. A premise that's fun with a surprising twist, and likeable characters with good chemistry.

Black Museum - Another really good episode. Despite treading on similar grounds to White Christmas, it still managed to work in its' own right and had fun ideas with a good twist.

USS Callister - I did not like. It's premise and set up is way too predictable and Hollywood-esque with no interesting twists, the digitally cloned conscience concept had already been done (and done much better) in other episodes, most of the characters we're supposed to like and root for are unlikable (especially Walton), and it even had a COMPLETE JOKE of a "villain."
I get why some might find some aspects entertaining, but it irks me when people insist it's among the best episodes.

Arkangel and Crocodile - Just OK. I get what they were both going for, but maybe the execution just wasn't right.

Metalhead - Similar to the above but to a lesser scale. I get that it was going for a more open-ended and ambiguous approach, but it failed by being too ambiguous.
