Andrew Scott, Andrew Scott, Andrew Scott!

I am on a high after watching the 2nd season of Fleabag, and I mean by now I've heard and seen everywhere that this last season of Black Mirror is really weak, but obviously I had to at least watch the episode with him. What a great actor! The episode itself was so-so, but Andrew Scott's performance kept me engrossed. It was almost as if the material was not worthy of his talent, but he did elevate it as much as was even possible. What he did with the role made me cry.

I have to say I didn't actually care for his Moriarty - I never read Arthur Conan Doyle's work, so I have no idea how the character is described in the books, but I would have thought that Moriarty is cold, calculated, detached, almost mechanical in his execution - not that he is so theatrical and over-the-top. I was like, is he supposed to come off so unhinged?.. So I don't know, I've seen that performance lauded by others, but it kinda left me unimpressed.

Anyway, the guy may not have been on my radar after Sherlock, but he certainly is now. What a treat, really, to see him perform. Maybe I'll even watch his Hamlet next. :)
