This was my favorite show

I’m so bummed! The new episodes can’t hold a candle to the other ones that were so complex and well written with multiple levels, meanings and characters. The new ones have lost EVERYTHING that made this series so good!

reply

Sadly, I agree. Which is a real shame, because the show had so much potential. The new episodes were really disappointing.

reply

Ha -I guess this truly was a GOT moment - where having fewer episodes actually led to worse quality than earlier seasons. Like GOT - say goodbye to BM. But hey, at least we got the new twilight zone to enjoy - oh wait @@

It's fascinating. We had some amazing TV shows in the past - but this year, everything is turning to shit show ;)

reply

Yes, I'm afraid you're right.
Once so innovative and original it has succumbed to the current trend toward homogenized mediocrity..
I swear I thought I was watching a banal episode of Jordan Peeles Twilight Zone.

So disappointing after waiting for this season..

reply

I've only watched the first episode so far and it was quite disappointing. I hope the others are better.

reply

The first one was the best out of the three.

reply

I've seen only two episodes so far and my only problem is pacing. Everything seems... unnecessarily long, extended. Otherwise, the first episode is really not that different than 'San Junipero' and the second one is 'National Anthem' remixed.

reply

That’s my main complaint, they are copying themselves instead of doing something new. It’s so one note as well, previous episodes had elements to it, other worlds within the one you are watching or multiple ideas to think about, it had subtlety. These three episodes were like banging the same key on the piano over and over again.

reply

Or like banging the same woman, over, and over, and over again.

reply

Are you twelve or do you just have the mentality of a twelve year old?

reply

You're a woman. Sorry about that, I'm not very bright. Anyways, ciao.

reply

Waited 2 years for 3 tiny and mediocre episodes. It just sucks.

reply

Although a few have been good, ever since it went to america you can notice the studio interference compared to the originals, it's lost it's edge and the latest three although watchable and actually decen't tv episodes if we are being honest aren't in the same league as the old ones, it's lost the dark unsettling tone and the subtlety.

Going to America is seen as 'making it' and the big ambition it seems but apart from the language we are very different, everything seems to get watered down to cater for them,

The really early Kitchen Nightmares with Gordan Ramsey are another example, the UK ones were real fly on the wall and interesting but the USA ones he is dressing up as a Hells Angel with fake mustache and that annoying high tension music playing on loop giving me a migrane

The last half of the Miley Cyrus ep felt more like a Nikleoden show than Black Mirror

reply

Really? Episodes like Shut Up and Dance, Crocodile, USS Callister, were "losing the edge?..

If anything, the quality was much more consistent in seasons 3 and 4 than it was in seasons 1 and 2, which only had one worthwhile episode each.

reply

That's ok, just walk away! I've only watched one episode of an earlier season and found it too depressing. So what's wrong with liking a show until a certain season and then just walk away? I did so with Dexter, Arrested Development, Modern Family, GoT and some more I won't recall right now.

reply

Of course I can walk away, I'm just disappointed. None of the episodes are alike so if you only watched one episode, you should give it another chance because some episodes are great, some less so.

reply

I believe you about the quality. But it's the depressing premise that I seem to have a problem with

reply

What depressing premise? The potential dangers of technological progress? Because they aren't all negative.

reply

Oh, alright I'll watch it tonight.

reply

If you'd like recommendations for ones that aren't totally depressing, you might like Season Four episode one USS Callister and Season Four episode four Hang The DJ

reply

Don't agree. the first episode, Striking Vipers, is quintessential Black mirror. It's similar to San Junipero, but at the same time very different. It was emotionally stirring and intellectually fascinating.

reply

It just didn't have the substance that past episodes had where every small detail had a backstory.
