Nosedive
Man, what an interesting episode! Imagine a world like that! Crazy huh?
shareI just watched this episode recently; being the first episode I watched of this show. Yeah, it was very intriguing. I was smiling the entire time cause its so relevant.
shareIt's so close to reality though..everything from what we eat & wear to where we work is all sorted through online reviews by other people. It wouldn't be surprising if people of, maybe, 3016 use such a technology.
shareGlad I won't be around for that. Social Media is awful now, can't imagine years from now.
shareMeow meow beanz
shareYou don't have to imagine it. China is planning to do it:

Wow! Good find! Interesting article!
shareThe world is already like this, but instead of social media ratings the factor that matters is money. People with money can get access to all the better things in life.
If social media scores mattered in life I'd probably be the guy who just said F it and took the old nosedive willingly.
Agreed! Social media is getting pretty dangerous!
shareThat extra money doesn't make them any happier though.
Yes going from dirt poor (lacking basic necessities) to working class can make you happier but after that the extra money is quite irrelevant to your level of happiness.
That's kind of our world now. The social media obsession drives me nuts.
shareI don't know why, but I thought this episode was terrible. The girl was so melodramatic and the whole setting of the episode seem like a musical, I mean everyone dressed in pastel colors and it really didn't connect with me emotionally until like the end of the episode. Unlike most other Black Mirror episodes.
shareI agreed with some of your points. It was supposed to be colorful and bubbly. It shapes the mood.
shareI feel that was the whole point: The world had become the sterile, pastel, day-glo "happy place" since that is what was driving everyone's ratings. So - it doesn't RELATE to US RIGHT NOW, but it was a foreign world for the sake of the plot. So, I felt it was a perfect fit for the staging of this.
The reality of the repressed passions released at the very end, is what you should connect with. But the ride getting out of that fake, up rated world, should be entertaining.

Another thing I probably read in a different thread... she had those ZED Eye implants, and maybe we were seeing everything kinda like wearing those: with the happy day glowy "instagram filter" colorizing everything. At the end hers are removed, and the world is dull grey (but the jail probably looked like that anyway)
