Apple Computer Logo

There is a theory that the Apple Computer Co. logo which shows an apple with a bite taken out of it, is an homage to Alan Turing. Supposedly, Turing died taking a bite of an apple that had been poisoned. Turing was fascinated with the fairy tale Snow White. This might all be nonsense, but it's still a theory.

I think I read somewhere that Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple, said the Apple logo has no relationship to Alan Turing.

I'd heard that story years before I saw the movie, from some friends in the IT department at my office who swore by it. However, it was Turing's common practice to eat an apple, or part of one, before going to sleep, and the half-eaten one found on the table next to his body wasn't tested for cyanide (?!)

He had in his home some kind of machine that used potassium cyanide to dissolve gold, so his death may have resulted from his having (repeatedly?) inhaled its fumes.

Still, it's a cool theory.
