what's the deal with jwoww's mom?

Watching the show yesterday, I found it to be really strange how nervous and agitated jwow seems to get just by talking about her mother. I understand that she's emotionally distant from her but I wonder what could have caused such a strained relationship.Could it be abandonment issues?

I feel like her mother may be an alcoholic or mentally ill in some sort of way. Maybe she abandoned Jenni. I want to know so badly!

her mom lives in a mental hospital

yeah her mom has been 'sick' for a long time according to the first After Hours episode of Season 3 of Jersey shore.
