I'm sorry, but I found Lance to be insufferable.

I'm just going to put it out there, but some people are just too damn holy. Lance is this kind of person. Every other word out of his mouth is God, Jesus, faith or whatever having to with his Christianity. That gets tiresome. I was also annoyed with his insistence that Harper believe in God like he does. You can't make someone believe. You can't save anyone else's soul. The only soul you have any say over is your own. It is possible to be a Christian, have a deep and abiding faith and not wear all of that on your sleeve. It is not necessary to hit people over the head with Jesus. I know all the women enjoyed looking at Morris Chestnut, but his character got on my last damn nerve. I mean, I found Shelby more tolerable, and she's the character who is supposed to be grating.

Sister, when I've raised hell, you'll know it!

While I didn't mind Lance emphasis on religion, I couldn't stand Lance at time. He a bit of a chauvinist and has an issue with looking down on other people. I liked him a little better in this film than the first one. In that one I couldn't stand how he thought about powerful women, cheated and some of his opinions that made him a real jerk.

His character may have been annoying but people like this do exist.

He was insufferable with his emphasis on religion but there are a lot of sportsmen like that.

Its that man again!!

Same. I usually avoid these kinds of people in real life. One thing that makes you more sympathetic to Lance though is that his wife is dying. It's the one thing that gives him strength I guess, and you can't begrudge him that.

Given the circumstances of the plot, his religiousness makes sense.

agreed. all nfl players are roid monkeys. he also gave some to mia, hence why she got a tummy ache. couldn't stand him since the first film. also he sounds like he has a speech impediment. why go into acting

I get tired of bible thumpers too! I felt like if he's so big on Christianity and God's will, he wouldn't be so angry! A real man of God wouldn't have held a grudge for 13 years; blatantly stated to Harper, "I'll never forgive you for this"; or need so much anger management!
So that's what bothered me; he's all holier than thou, but he's just another hypocrite. Never once did I see him pray after his behavioral outbursts (including swearing in church; Best Man!); but he'll pray about something I'm pretty sure God doesn't care about; A Football Game! It made me feel as if he was praying for frivolous things; but then judgmentally thump his bible at everyone else; especially Harper (Diggs)! IJS.
