any good?

The trailer made this look quite interesting and potentially provocative, however the reviews say it's a bore fest. I'm going to see this or The Place Beyond The Pines tomorrow night. Is Pilgrim worth seeing?

reply

Surprised the reviews called it a bore fest. Found it bleak and very heartbreaking and even despite the slow pace was kept on the edge of my set thanks to Joe Mullins riveting performance. The cinematography was top notch too.

I've just watched this on RTE.
You know, you really cannot get much better than this, people.
Bleak and beautiful.
So reminiscent of rural Ireland.
Watch this if you can at all, even if just for the wonderful cinematography.
Top marks.

Rural Ireland isn't all like that, Jimmy should have planted the farm when his ould fella died and fecked off over to Canada to find work and a woman. Pure miserable, wet, dreary depressing land in that part of Kerry not fit for man nor beast.

True, Texas Jack, though there's still a fair bit of it about.
And, yep, he should have fecked off.
However, many don't get a chance to feck off or don't take the chance.
If you've ever seen a TV series called Hardy Bucks, there are some parallels, though I guess, many differences, too. Hardy Bucks is sort of 'off beat comedy', though still very sad underneath.
