SWEET!!!

Saints 2 is now Saints 3 and a new Saints will take it's place. What are we going to be expecting? By the looks of it, it will take place in France. Will the original characters reappear? What do you think?

Well I saw the trailer and I cant wait! I noticed a couple things that mite have to do with the story. Well it seems like Deacon was in the 509th Parachute Infantry Batalion before the first Saints and Soldiers. If you noticed the arm flags worn by the paratroopers in the trailer, they are in the left shoulder with no division patch on the right shoulder. This means they cant be the 82nd or 101st. If you look at photos of the 509th PIB most of them have no division patch and have a invasion flag on the left arm. Its evident that Deacon was in the 509th.
Thus there are several places where the movie could take place
- Southern France Operation Dragoon August 1944
- Italy 1944 (Possibly Operation Avalanche).
- Cant be Normandy cuz the 509th did not jump on D-Day
The 509th had the most combat jumps in WW2 out of any airborne division. Also the 509th was disbanded in late 1944 after taking major casualties. The remainders of the 509th were transfered to the 101st explaining why Deacon is in the 101st in the first Saints n Soldiers.

Where did you see the trailer? The main character isn't Deacon, it's some guy named Rossi, just played by the same actor. It is definately somewhere in France, one of the character is a French Partisian. It may have been D-day, and they got the facts wrong, they did the same with the first, the 101 wasn't near Malmedy when the massacre happened. I wonder why Ryan Little picked Corbin Allred to be Rossi, even though he was in Saints 1. I'm guessing it sort of a nod to the original.

I met Corbin Allred a few months ago. He's a way cool dude. You guys got it all wrong. Airborne Creed is a totally different story line, it just uses the same main actor. It's in France but it's operation dragoon, the invasion of southern France in August 1944. The unit of Paratroopers I believe is the 517 PIR which was attached to the 82nd for a while I think, but by the time of Dragoon the 517 was a it's own unit to be used however the Army wanted.

There's nothing realistic about this movie. Take it from a veteran, this is worse than Disney. This is a fantasy movie... a boy scout movie. Ridiculous and insulting to real war veterans.

reply

Yeah, not historically accurate at all.

It's a Christian war film, what did you expect

reply

Hey folks,

Get off the "Christian" war film crap. It is a war film with a very good story. I have been watching war films for over six decades, and most of them have characters and scenes dealing with one or more soldiers coming to grips with their own personal relationships with their understanding of God.

This was a very good war film based on a small unit of GIs thrown together after missing their drop zones and what they accomplished in the next few days. It was not a "religious" film just because it was made by some very talented folks related to the Latter Day Saints Church.

Best wishes,

There was nothing historically accurate about "Kelly's Heroes", "Where Eagles Dare", "The Dirty Dozen" or dozens of other movies, but they're still good war movies. Even the movie about the "Memphis Belle" was mostly fictional.

They're nothing wrong with showing a spiritual, humane side of men in life or death situations. In fact, I think it's natural.
