Even though I think Song Kang Ho is the best living actor

Choi Min Sik keeps giving me performances I absolutely love. He already gave my favorite performance of all time in Oldboy and in this movie he was just awesome. He isn't afraid to humiliate himself when giving a performance. When crying or begging. Totally not afraid to look pathetic. I'm not trying to down him or anything, I think it shows a real bravery. A lot of actors even when begging or crying try to appear some level of cool but he just lets it all out. But yeah I loved the character himself, got by on people skills, knowing people, and willing to survive no matter what.

I prefer Choi over Song, but it's close. I agree with your post (mostly). This is Choi's most annoying, unctuous role yet, but I hugely enjoyed the performance. Choi really is the Korean chameleon. I'd love to see him in an acting face-off with somebody like Robert DeNiro. I'm glad Choi gave up his self-imposed exile from film making, but now we're making up for lost time. :(

I think both are absolutely amazing.Choi and Song have so many great performances that showcase their versatility that I simply cannot choose between the two.

Choi is the best actor in Asia no doubt.

I'm a huge fan of Korean films but I think Byung-hun Lee will always be my favorite since he essentially got me into watching Korean films. I also feel like I'm taking crazy pills because Oldboy was the only highly-rated Korean film that has ever disappointed me. For some reason I just couldn't get into it as much as others. On a side note, I really wish Bin Won would make another movie because he was terrific in his last role in The Man From Nowhere.
