Thoughts from non South-Asians

I am just wondering what non south-asians think of this movie. Just curious.

I'm non south asian and live in the the US. I just watched it on netflix. I liked it, although I had trouble following it. Priyanka Chopra's role was really well done. She played the part really well. It was a very sweet story I thought.

I loved it. Uncertain to why American filmakers have yet to discover Ranbir Kapoor. This is the third movie I have watched with him, and I am a fan. Ileana is beautiful. I want to visit Darjeeling, now.

I'm from Sweden and have since recently been massively in to (good) Indian movies, this one included. Although the film is about serious stuff (such as life..), with beautiful scenes and interactions between people that at least leaves my mind thinking, it is done in such a light, colourful and happy way, which is why I think the film is brilliant. People's interaction and relationships are the most wonderful thing on earth, according to me, and to me, that is what this film is about.

Loved it. I only found out about the accusations of plagiarism after I had finished watching it. And looking at their "evidence", it doesn't change my opinion of the film.

Yes various scenes were blatantly copied (most notably the Chaplin scenes), but most of them are from very old films, with very different stories. Something which other movies (even Hollywood) has been doing for years. And they constitute a very tiny amount of the film.

Because here's the thing that people don't seem to admit: if you take out those scenes in Barfi!, you are still left with a beautiful story with gorgeous cinematography and score. And that to me, is still worth a lot more.
