Good premise, bad idea to make it into an adult comedy.

The parts that focused on the competitive insanity of soccer parents was accurate and funny. Both my children play competitive soccer in NJ and my wife and I saw in those scenes a lot of truths. A movie that focused on that had more that it could have done and it would have resonated with parents and families in multiple sports.

There were numerous aspects of competitive youth sports that could have been incorporated that would have made for a stronger film. The only real parent actions you saw on the sidelines were at the end of the movie. That was a mistake because it removed a lot of possibility. To have a film that focused on a soccer team from a more affluent community and not incorporate what happens when those teams play teams from more working class towns or ethnic towns missed out on a lot of possibility. To not really pay any attention to how the kids view all this was also a lost opportunity.

It is unfortunate that the writer/director decided to veer into language and adult situations because that made this into a film that won't work for families looking for a PG13 type film. That was the audience for this movie. No surprise this never made it past DVD release.
