Had potential

It's been playing on TV while I played a game of computer chess, browsed some eBay listings, checked my email. It's not very hard to follow the story which is good when you have other things to do. It's funny unusual because it seems to have a reasonable cast and has the potential for some good comedy, kind of like that movie "Dealin' With Idiots" if anyone has seen that with the kids baseball team and the crazy parents. I was hoping for something possibly along those lines, not the same of course but a decent comedy. This is just a lot of dialog and few if any laughs. I mean I didn't laugh at any of it, it was just background filler and completely uninteresting; with the exception of Janeane Garofalo who was the most interesting thing in the movie but let down by the rest of the it. I think they needed to decide if it was going to be a kids movie or rather a family movie that everyone could enjoy, or a comedy aimed more at adults. I don't think it was either and so it didn't work on either level. Personally I feel they should have gone the kids comedy route with the kids being the straight ones and the parents being the maniacs.
