Can anyone 'splain why AmazingLove gave Patty Duke's character the name Helen??

Asked since a much younger Patty Duke won an Oscar for her re-creation of Helen Kellar in TheMiracleWorker.

Her connection to the movie Helen Keller could be the reason or just a coincidence.
