Tom Cruise?

The Sony email drama revealed that Sorkin was lobbying for Tom Cruise (previously cast in his film A Few Good Men) to play Jobs. He looks nothing like him, but I could really see it. He has exactly the right manic energy and would have been great. I loved Fassbender (thought he deserved the Oscar more than Leo) but Cruise could have been even better and with him the movie would have been a greater commercial success and gotten Cruise's career back on the rails so he could start doing serious work again. What do you think?

Tom Cruise? At first it felt out of place. But after a couple of seconds and me just having finished watching the film... I mean... Fassbender was great... but wow... in many ways Tom already is that character. Not that much acting required.

Now I kinda wanna see a Steve Jobs flick with Cruise...

Too soon? What. We've had like 2-3 Jobs flicks already. It's basically its own exploitation sub-genre... jobsploitation... or stevesploitation if you will.

Pretty soon we'll have lookalikes doing films calling themselves Steven Yobs or stuff like that.

I wonder if Cruise would have even taken the role. he'd have done a good job in it since he's got the right intensity and focus but he can also do the father stuff but he hasn't really done a small movie in a while.
That said I'm not sure if it would have done any better commercially with Tom Cruise than it has done with Fassbender especially reading the comments board on IMDB. It's more of a critics movie than one for the movie going masses, people tend to go to see a Tom Cruise movie for big budget action and crazy stunts like hanging off the side of an airplane or jumping around on a building in Dubai.

He's probably been busy with his Jack Reacher movies. Seems to be more of an action guy anyway.
