Who greenlighted this train wreck of a script?

It's a Universal Pictures film.

Not exactly. Sony made the movie and then dumped it for Universal to pick. That's what it says in the trivia section.

No, Sony put it in turnaround. Universal then bought the script and made the movie. And I'm glad they did because I loved it.

I'm not going to say you don't have a right to dislike the film, or to dislike the style it was made in or what have you. But anybody who claims this is a poorly written script simply does not know writing. I'd be curious to know what other scripts you find to be trainwrecks.
