1984 Mac commercial...

I took a marketing class in college, and the book we had to buy, had a whole section on that commercial.
How ground breaking, how innovative, yada yada yada.

Anyone here remember actually seeing it, back in 84.

I saw it during the Super Bowl that year. I was 15-years old and had not a single interest in computers at the time. By 1996 I became a Windows/SQL developer and these days I have been a software architect for the last 8 years. The one thing that always stuck out to me was that I remember hearing that Ridley Scott was the director of that commercial and I was a big fan of Alien (still am) so I found it interesting.

You'll work on... "We were making too much money".

I remember seeing it during the Superbowl as well.

I remember it being visually interesting, but I had no idea what it was actually about. NONE.
It had tons of style, but was actually a major fail as a commercial.

Seriously.

I thought the dialogue in the movie regarding it and how it didn't actually show a Macintosh computer was really interesting. Do you remember when you first saw it if this was an issue for you or were you still intrigued enough for them to hit the mark?

I saw it when I was 22.

My people skills are fine. It's my tolerance of morons that needs work.

It was the beginning of commercials where you forgot what the product was.

I was 14 when it aired. There wasn't any hype about commercials back then like there is now. No DVR, no internet and computers were thought of as calculators.

All you really understood back then was IBM's were cheap and Apple's were expensive.

Maybe there was more hype in silicone valley but in hickville, WV where i was from, not so much.

CLONES were cheap. Actual, branded IBM machines were very expensive.
