So were they really some sort of "superior" genetic breed, or just a crazy cult? It did seem a little odd that all of the babies were male... like, statistically improbable. You'd think there would be a girl or two in there, but none of the adopted boys had any siblings.

shareWell, I was thinking "What do the men get out of it?" I mean, they sacrifice these ladies to the gods, and the men get nothing in return. But maybe the return is that they are guaranteed a male? Which makes no sense because there's plenty of women in the town.
