If you're thinking about it, go!

Fantastic film-not "Japanese" really, a very modern, Western tone. I saw it at a Japanese Film Fest in Sac and it was funny all the way through. GO!

I just came home from going to see it at the Fantasia Festival in Montreal, and I must say that it was a very good, solid movie. Both funny and serious, entertaining and reflective, Key to Life is great film--not perfect, as it has its minor flaws, but nothing that hinders its thorough enjoyability. Thank you, Fantasia, for bringing this gem!

Sanjuro or Godzilla. It is not "foreign" because in the year 2012 people in major developed cities like NYC, London & Tokyo (Yokohama) live very similar lives. If you've never been to Yokohama, yes, it is very modern, very modern Japan. But, it had many "Japanese" scenes or characters, like

the 35 yr old slacker guy. Since Japan's great recession began almost 20 yrs before that of the west, their slackers are older.

the approach to the women about getting married ... cold & professional

the staff interaction in the office. The scene of her vacuuming her desk reminded me of a couple of Japanese women I know, but not a single American woman.

The group date. Did you even know what that was?

Nobody was killed, in fact, I don't think any blood was drawn or even any physical violence of any kind performed.

the sort of semi-pro crime gangs

If I thought about it for another 10 minutes, I'd probably come up with another 4 or 5.

otoh, they did use a Chrysler and it was less "Japanese" than something like, say A Taxing Woman, but that is what 25 yrs of globalization does to your perception and people's lives.
