It is like they aren't even trying to hide their guilt

All the brooding, the dramatic exchanges. They are walking around with giant billboards proclaiming their guilt. Any detective with eye-sight would have raised some suspicion.

And that's exactly, how they were made. It is a movie about people who are not used to kill someone. How would you react? I think it was very plausible. Actually I think this movie had no real flaw. Gripping to the end.

I kinda agree with you, but i believe the only "flaws" were the too many loose ends left after the crime. I know everything happened in a hurry and all was accidental, and i don't blame the brother's reactions after that, but i think the fact they were cops should have given them a bit of an "advantage" if i may say. They are not used to killing, it's obvious, and you can't foresee how you're gonna react, but there were things they shouldn't have done or others they waited too long to do. I mean, why does Joe wait so long before remembering about the U Pass Jason Buleigh had in his hand? At first I thought he hadn't seen it and that's fine but then we see him remembering it. That's a major error I reckon. In the same way they wait several days before checking if there were any witnesses when they abducted Jason. Even though it ends up not being very relevant, cops would surely have investigated that before, don't you believe?
I really enjoyed the movie but those like things kinda annoyed me, specially when you're talking about 2 cops. Yet again I want to highlight I'm not talking about or judging their emotional response as it's impossible to know how you would react in such a situation, just focusing on the points or mistakes their position as cops should have prevented.

I agree the film was intense and quite atmospheric but I have to say too many of the scenes were contrived - probably the biggest one was when Robert (Strong) turned up at Lenny's house (Cox) for no reason that we see in the film and started talking to him about old times and slightly revealing that his son was trying to keep him from revealing something (about) the Island and burial and next day the cops were doing a search on the beach. Also other scenes - why did Joe (Bettany) burn his suit at home?...just asking for trouble, and the timing of events to suit the plot.
5/10.

Agreed. Still a fairly good film though. 6.5/10

Yes, that was one of the film's biggest flaws. A shame really, because almost everything, from the cast to the cinematography, was solid. It's the plot and development that had issues.

I never understood why they felt so guilty about killing a known pedophile who spied on a little girl and snuck photos of her and stile her ribbon/bracelet etc..
It's not like they killed an innocent child.
