dissapointed *spoiler*

Is any body else a bit dissapointed at the 3rd episode? I had my suspicians from the start that it involved either Joe, Fergus or Gwen, but found the whole 'murder' bit a bit ridiculous. Surely the police would have noticed that Greg and Milena were dead before the ''accident'' or at least noticed bruises that weren't consistent with a car crash, and I don't see how Joe would just outright kill his best mate and 2 others other something so silly (and i don't actually get why he did it anyway...was it cos he thought his affairs would be exposed or cos he was trying to fleece money from his clients or something?) All in all i was really dissapointed!!!

reply

He did it because Milena knew he was fleecing his clients and was going to expose him hence the email to Greg to get the ball rolling and she threatened to tell his wife about their affair.

reply

This is a weak point I think: If you found out that the boss of your accounting company was fleecing you, would you go to his employee or to the police?

reply

Yup, a bit. In fact, I hoped everything turned out to be just a little grief paranoia, no foul play involved at all.

About Joe, it was not only the money, but Milena mocking him. Then one thing lead to another...

reply

Yes, so disappointed, in fact, that I feel I've wasted whatever time it took to watch the 3 episodes. It deteriorated into ridiculousness and I was disgusted that at this busy time of year I'd bothered with it at all.

Who read this script – burdened with one cliche line after another – and thought it would make (and was worthy of) a full 3 episodes?

Lame, lame, lame and lame are the words that sum it up for me.

reply

Well, Anna Friel is very good in this role.

reply

Yes, agree completely. Anna Friel was terrific in this role. What a difference from the OTT hysteria of Neverland. Yes, of course, completely different part, but amazing how she is so good in Without You and so dreadful in Neverland.

reply

If anything I thought it needed more episodes. It felt rushed. In the book there was a lot more that happened.

reply

I was really disappointed. That started somewhere in the second episode when it just seemed ridiculous how long she stayed employed in the office under the fake name. Went beyond curiosity and desire for justice to psychotic behavior (as was later acknowledged when the police detective pointed it out) abusing the trust of several people. She's caught doing this and the police are investigating her for murder so her friends tell her to go be around vulnerable schoolchildren to unwind. Then at the very end when she drives into the wall and the policeman tells her he doesn't want to bother investigating basically because he likes teachers and the guy she killed was a meanie. And of course the cat comes back as a final tearjerking moment. Really really crap. Would have been more interesting if she really had been in denial about being a murderer.

reply

Perhaps the cop reckoned it would be very difficult to get enough evidence to convict Joe, and so she saved him the bother.

I thought it had its moments.

reply

He was joking about letting her go because she's a teacher. I think he didn't have enough evidence to arrest her.

reply

I read the book and the bodies were badly burnt, they wouldn't have seen the bruises and also, you'd be surprised at how powerful money and business is as a motivator.
