Your best and worst moment of the performance

Personally:

My best
The final lair scene so intense, filled with so much tension the chemistry between Ramin and Sierra is really strong here. Especially the moment where Ramin is strangling her without realising and the way he finally realises and pulls away in shock and disgust at himself. Really nailed for me the Phantom's insanity and the sadness and he himself realises what he has become and how it is hurting the one he loves most.

My worst

The fact that there was no bride mannequin at the end of MOTN it didn't give Christine a reason to faint IMO so when it happened it was like ok.. guess she was overwhelmed by the ..candles?? Also I love the bride cause it's really symbolic of the depths of the Phantom's obsession

What about you guys?

Best: I LOVED Masquerade. I never realized how great an opening (2nd act) number it is until now. Probably because it's the first time I've seen it after an intermission.

Worst: Hate to sound cliched, but I miss the 'Phantom' aspects of the performance. I miss the chandelier. I miss the trap doors. I know the Albert Hall is super respected and stuff, but it isn't built for Phantom, so why did they use it?

so why did they use it?

If I had to take a guess, seating capacity. The RAH can seat about 5,200 (I believe). As opposed to a traditional theater that would allow them to have the more traditional Phantom setup usually seats less. For example Her Majesty's Theatre seats just under 1,200. So they were able to get more than 4x the audience into the RAH than they're able to get on a single night at HMT. Given the milestone of such a show, I'm sure they knew they would need that capacity for the 3 shows if only to meet a fraction of the demand that there would be. Plus, it gave them access to the RAH organ (which for Phantom, is perfect).

Best: The vocal and dramatic abilities of Ramin, Sierra and Hadley. Stunning.

Worst: Liz Robertson, I'm afraid. And Sierra's dodgy accent when she spoke.

"Sierra's dodgy accent.."

When you mention it, there was something about Sierra's L's! Her "L"s were very thick, what was that? And where is she from, anyway?

Sierra's overpronounciation was a little offputting, but her acting made up for it. She's from Denver, Colorado.
