did they add some lyrics and new scenes for the anniversury?

I don't remember some of the scenes that were on the dvd from the original Broadway show. Like the Rehearsal and Raul threatening the phantom before the Rehearsal. They changed some lyrics too.

Oh that's more funny then a screen door on a battle ship- Biff Tannen

Those scenes are not new to the stage production.

There is no DVD of the original broadway show...??

I think they did change some lyrics in the finale. I think the change was due to issues with some words/lines being misunderstood. But there could have been creative reasons as well.

I've been a 'Phantom Phan' since the London show debut (seen it loads of times) and yes, the song lyrics have changed and 'evolved' over the years in the differing variations of the work.

As others have said most of the lyrics you might notice are different than the original show were changed within the first couple years of the show and some have continued to evolve since then. I know Raoul's part of Think of Me was changed because it sounded like he was saying "not a bitch" instead of "not a bit" as an example. But I also heard that the West End uses newer lyrics while Broadway still uses some of the older ones, so it depends on the production too.

But some things were changed or shifted around other than the lyrics. For instance:
-Obviously the chandelier doesn't raise or fall and they use other effects.
-There's no elephant in Hannibal
-They moved the introduction of the new managers to after Hannibal instead of interrupting in the middle of it and getting in the way.
-I think I heard Christine dropping the rose for Raoul to find was new but I'm not sure about this.
-They removed the mirror bride
-During why so silent, the Phantom doesn't disappear and reappear at the top of the stairs a moment later.
-Christine singing to the audience instead of her father's grave
-Oh, and the fact that the cast was much much larger!

A lot of these changes also apply the the recent tour through the UK and North America.
