I liked the documentary, BUT.....

.....it seemed a bit schizophrenic.

The main 'theme' they kept returning to through the 'written narrations' was one of a positive person determined to 'overcome' and 'persevere'.

And, yet, she did not. This is a tragedy essentially written by Ms Monroe herself.

Joe 'heroically' rescues her from inpatient, when clearly she needed help. I do see the sensitivity, and sensitive people often live painful lives while trying to avoid conflict. I know, it describes myself to a degree.

But it seems she valued her creation more than she valued herself.

Well, I could go on, but like I said: I saw a lot of 'spinning' being done to make things seem more 'uplifting' than they actually were.

BTW, I'm not trolling, and I very much DO sympathize with her. It's very, very sad she felt so empty and lost, despite the tremendous amount of valuable work and effort she put into herself.

I liken her to Elvis -- both incredible talents (and gorgeous to look at) who were used by others, seduced by fame, and who had incompetent doctors (in Marilyn's case, therapists).

The "spinning" I saw was all in Marilyn's favor. Tragic and misunderstood, for sure, but the problems she caused on movie sets affected others, and she didn't seem to understand that, or care.

That said, I love her, and her early death made me sad.
