This documentary creeped me out...

I have no problem with people waiting until marriage to have sex due to their religious beliefs, and I have no problem with parents instilling that Christian value in their children, but for some reason the father in this documentary really creeped me out, as did the whole family in general.

The father wasn't just concerned with their "purity", but it was as if this was his whole life's purpose. The way he was all up in their personal lives in this way, and to such an extent, made my skin crawl. He was close to them in a way that only mothers should be with their daughters.

It was getting to the point that I was almost half expecting for the father to talk about how once in a while he personally inspects his daughters to make sure that they are still "pure", and to use his Christian beliefs as an excuse to do so. I just found the whole thing really off putting.

I've known a few very Christian families in my life and they have instilled this value in their children. I even worked with a man who, when he finally married at 33, was a virgin. These people were all very good people. They were NOTHING like this family, and nothing like this father. Just plain weird.

I know that the family's purpose for being in this documentary was to show how their beliefs are very important to them, and to show/explain why they are important. I'm sure it was also to inspire others to endeavor to respect themselves in the same way that they do (I'm not saying that the rest of us don't respect ourselves, I'm just speaking of this family's beliefs in regard to their religion). With that said, I'm sure that the last thing they wanted to do was to come across as creepy. They most likely knew that they would be annoying to some people and just plain ridiculous to others, but not creepy.

Everyone is entitled to believe what they want to and live the way they feel is right, but again, this whole thing made me very uncomfortable. As I said, I was half waiting for the father to say that he inspected his daughters once in a while. It would not have surprised me in the least bit.

The plural of mouse is mice. The plural of goose is geese. Why is the plural of moose not meese?
