OMG: Enough of the non-stop'mummy and daddy'...

they're like 60 years old and still saying mummy and daddy? Rory never even knew him and calls him daddy thirty times a minute. These people are so effing obnoxious.

Can you explain that to me on a fifth grade level, so everybody else will get it?.

reply

I agree, very odd.

Well, he was her father. What was she to call him "the man who died before I was born"? You're never too old to call you parents mommy and daddy...it's love.

If you notice, Ethel calls her husband "Daddy" several time when speaking to Rory.
I guess this is just how they spoke growing up and they never changed.
Many of us still talk that way out of habit. I say "I miss Mom" instead of "I miss my Mother."
I think it shows love and also that they are comfortable within their family.
