Alyssa's Voice

What is up with her voice/inflection? It's like she is totally over the top dramatic, bordering on a mid Atlantic accent. When they were rolling the dice and she was yelling out the results it was laughable. Has anyone else noticed her weird/crazy voice?

reply

I haven't... too busy focusing on her weird/crazy wardrobe choices. But I'll listen to her more closely this week.

reply

Sometimes it sounds as if she's out of breath. It's really odd.

You can call me 'Mayor Chapstick.'

I remember this came up last season and a lot of people were saying it was because she was super pregnant, but it's continued into this season. She always sounds like she's at the end of a breath but insists on pushing out 2 or 3 more words before breathing.

Since she's still holding onto baby weight, maybe she's wearing a girdle; at least something to cinch her in! ;-)

I thought it was because she was pregnant back then too...but it seems to have stayed with her. Crazy.

I can't stand the way she says "forward" when she tells people to step forward. I can't describe it; she just says it incorrectly.

reply

She pronounces it like "fo-erd", leaving off the "r" and "w" and changing the "a" to an "e". That might just be her regional dialect from wherever she grew up though.

reply

THANK YOU!!!! It was so weird to listen to her say 'foerd' over and over again. I'm glad I'm not the only one who was bothered by that.

reply

It drives me crazy the way she pronounces Foe-erd!

I hate the way she says "Mizrahi", other than that her voice doesn't really bug me too much.

And every cat in the twilight’s gray,
Every possible cat."

I can't stand her voice. I find her gross, overall.

don't hear an accent nor do accents bother me, like everyone else has said its the lack of oxygen sound and overly theatrical inflection that is bothersome to me.
