This is what's WRONG with AMERICA....

This is one of the huge problems with America. 90% of the time, it isn’t about your hard work or talent. Sam, because he is a white, attractive and youthful (ageism) man has been given advantages and opportunities, which have nothing to do with his actual talent or level of effort. And he is so oblivious that he thinks it’s earned and deserved. People like Sam think other people are just being jealous or “bitchy” toward them because they thinks they're "so great." In reality, people excluded from this special treatment, are truly angry because there is absolutely no basis for the selected people to get these privileges. Meanwhile, the “minorities” on the show are slaving away, in the hopes of scraping by (while they work 110% harder). This show has become, trying to outlast Sam’s undeserved privilege, rather than about the fashion.

And side note, Does everyone not remember Swapnil? He literally did a similar situation as Sam. He didn’t put in his full effort and made mediocre pieces at times (even though I think they were still better than what Sam has presented this season). And how did that go for Swapnil? The Judges actually called him on it, and he went home. The difference here: Sam being an attractive, white, male. It’s just disgusting! These false ideals need to change. People need to wake up and actually look at the effort, talent of all people. And stop uplifting people for superficial reasons.

although I agree with you that Swapnil deserved another chance Im inclined to disagree about Sam. Its not about the amount of effort you put into your work because some people are able to almost effortlessly create beautiful things.Thats the way the world works...we arent judged on "effort"...we are judged on the end result..just because Ken spends countless hours fretting over and torturing his pieces doesnt mean he deserves to win more than anyone else...and it sure as hell doesnt give him the right to tell other people they dont want it as bad as him. Why should Sam be penalized for having a different more relaxed evolutionary work process? As far as him being treated preferentially because hes a "white, youthful, male"...well thats just ridiculous.I consider myself VERY liberal minded and progressive and am always the first person to speak up when I see prejudice against anyone but in this case I honestly dont see it. If he happens to be getting treated better then its the producers fault for wanting to keep him around for the drama....not because hes a white twenty something male.I dont find Sam attractive and sometimes his personality grates on me...that being said I DO think he has talent and think a lot of his designs were or could have been amazing given less restrictions...Im really hoping he sticks around until the end because Im sick of Kens attitude and obsession with "dressing the bitchy power woman" (which lets be honest, only exists in his head) and Kinis tired and drab bow garnished gowns with that dreadful umbrella effect.....Dom is amazing but shes won before....so in all Im hoping Sam wins

When I’m saying effort, I am talking about the overall design also. I’m not saying that Sam has to have a complicated design to be on the same level as the other contestants. I have seen designers like Anya Ayoung-Chee that had a very simple, care-free design (with those kaftans). And although they were simple construction, she did them brilliantly with a fresh, point of view. But in Sam’s case, the outfits he is creating for the runway are not well designed (as well as poorly made). They are not good enough, in my opinion. This is supposed to be all stars. The facts are that Sam has been getting special treatment.

1) The situation where two designers were saved. That happened to be when Sam was in the bottom and deserved to be eliminated but yet they couldn’t part with him.

2) Secondly, Sam didn’t even follow the rules of the art challenge, which was partly to reflect the actual work of the artist. That would typically be enough to kick someone off, but oh no, not Sam.

You obviously are a fan of Sam, so you might not want to actually see the truth of what is happening. But if you were looking at it slightly more objectively, you’d notice how other people have been sent home in previous seasons for less. Sam is getting special, undeserved treatment. And since this praise, isn’t based on his designs (because they haven’t been good), it is based on his looks (i.e. white, young, male). Comments like mine are coming up because we are watching this situation, where it is becoming more and more obvious how the judges are allowing him to thrive with mediocre work, because they like him. This is supposed to be a fashion competition, not a beauty pageant.

I don't believe the color of his skin has ANYTHING to do with why Sam is still around, that is a BIG stretch considering who is now remaining.

I agree. I don't believe the color of his skin has anything to do with it, but something is amiss. How did Emily get voted off before he did. Albeit, her design wasn't that great, Sam's was atrocious.

I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ-Gandhi

That really has NOTHING to do with ANYTHING. Because this is not the first time its happened.

Gretchen Jones sent so many horrific designs during her season and escaped elimination many times.
Likewise, Mondo Guerra should have gone home when he COMPLETELY missed a challenged where he sent out a juvenile short and bra during one of the challenges.

Anya Ayoung-Chee barely finished a lot of her designs and won the show.

Michelle Lesniak was already eliminated and brought back, which was absolutely unfair, and then ended up winning the whole thing.

Dom Streater was already almost eliminated and was also given a second chance.

And that is just the tip of the iceberg of this show.

So you see, fashion is subjective. In the end people just want him eliminated because he is a threat. Regardless, he is going this week anyway. Kini spoiled it in his facebook posts.

Your obvious loathing for "white males" is what is loathing. There is a difference between identifying bias and just spewing hate.

I can see that you want to misdirect the attention away from the meaning of my topic. The facts are the facts. Anyone that has been watching the show can see that Sam is getting special treatment based on his appearance, not his design. And your need to say that me pointing that fact out, equals that I “loath white males” and directing the focus away from the reality that people are getting undeserved, special treatment based solely on their appearance. The world shouldn’t be designed to favor people based on appearance. It should be about the quality, the effort, the hard work, and in this case, the design. So, no I am not for people being uplifted due to racial, sexist, or ageist biases. We should all want a better standard, than that.

Except your claim based on his race has no validity and you do not even remotely suggest why it's worked in his favor. It's a blank statement that reveals more about you than anyone you're whining about.

reply

I already gave examples as to the validity of my claim. I am only stating my observations and viewpoint. If you don’t agree, that’s fine.

reply

But you didn't detail any examples about how his race has helped him. You just made generalizations based on your already established viewpoint of America.

reply

I totally agree. If Sam looked like an ugly Hawaiian troll doll like Kini, he wouldn't even be on the show in the first place. Sam was just as bad in his original season: the judges seemed mesmerized by his looks and youth.

reply

Ugh I can't believe Isaac was praising that awful dress this week. I agree with a lot of what you said... But I also think the producers are keeping him on to fuel the Ken and Kini vs Sam feud.

This has nothing to do with Sam being white, attractive or youthful in my opinion. There have been several designers in previous seasons that stuck around while people were raging about them not deserving it, one prominent example that comes to mind was Patricia, who was none of the things you mentioned. But she was kept on the competition because of originality even if a lot of her stuff didn't work according to most. Sam on the other hand is still there for the drama. First it was the whole thing with Mitchel, then Kini, then also Ken. Like it or not, drama boosts popularity in most cases, and the very fact that you made a post about it (like countless more people) proves that it works.

I thank you for the chuckle at the hilariously ridiculous troll topic sentence, but I need not make it any further lest you think anyone should take you serious for acting something on a reality TV game show represents a country.

Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that I'll be over here looking through your stuff.
