Costumes and Wardrobes: rediculous at times!

Anyone else notice? Time and time again I see their actors garbed in some of the most absurd costumes, particularly military uniforms. Whoever does the wardrobe hasn't a clue. I've seen many times military officers with no rank, wrong rank or, as an example, a general wearing upside-down sargent stripes. The clothing looks like they must have got it off the bargain rack at Goodwill. I spent 21 years in the military so such gross errors jump out at me. I may not know everything, but I recognize stupid when I see it. All it takes is a look on the internet, but apparently that is too much effort.
..... I would guess that police uniforms are just as far off, but I'm certainly not an expert on them either. More often than not the police uniforms just do not look right at all. Probably applies to any kind of uniform they use.
..... I do enjoy the show, but the lack of research into proper uniforms is annoying. I have written directly to the show but their response pretty much was "thanks for watching".
