A movie for teachers

To fully appreciate this film you have to be a teacher or close to a teacher. This movie is so spot on about the politics and bs that happens with administration in schools. A teacher must have been involved in the writing. Very very good film. Made even better if you are a teacher.

This movie was so real, it actually gave me anxiety!!! Too true!

Absolutely! Have you ever seen "Chalk?" It's a little older, but very similar to TOTY, and just spot on about the world of public education.

Also a round of applause for the actors that really did well with portraying their roles. I felt the passion behind all the acting. The writer really put a lot into this. ???????????? bravo.

Yeah it was very relatable including the admin who are just there to work their way up the ladder, including the kiss ass sycophant AP "Mr. Douche doesn't need help running the school." Good lord! But yes all the archetype of teachers are well represented in the movie, including the poor dedicated do gooder who gets screwed over like the one who got accused of abusing a student. Oi vey.

And the writers prob spent a lot of time around teachers, including in the teacher's lounger where you can learn so much.

I dreaded and enjoyed parent - teacher conferences because I learned about my kids, which helped me better understand their positions in life. Apple - tree. Some you can easily understand, "Oh, yeah," and others, you see how they live and realize/ question how they're able to manage. Seriously I had some great kids and their parents were train wrecks.

Agreed, mostly. My step-mother was an orchestra teacher, and my aunt is a reading teacher. I've worked in day-care (school affiliated - called "extended day"), so I've known a lot of teachers.

This film rang true to everything I've known about public education. Funny, and a little heart-wrenching. 7/10.
