Why almost always evil Americans?

I've seen a lot of Hong Kong/China movies (mostly kung fu ones) where they almost always depict Americans as the evil doers and then the Chinese come out on top by defeating said American foe. The American foes are always heavily built, tall, slow moving brutes. Funny how Americans don't give a shit about it but if America does something about evil China, they'll get banned/censored/removed/threatened and they'll cave in to it (though that's slowly changing for some companies).

IVE SEEN A LOT OF ACTION MOVIES WHERE THE BAD GUY(S) ARE MARTIAL ARTS MASTER;USUALLY ASIAN.

reply

Oh really, which ones?

reply

American Ninja series? Or the many martial art movies that come from Hollywood?

It doesn't matter though, most of those movies are just exploitation movies of the eastern culture. Compared to this movie which is blatantly anti-western with a nationalist undertone that so palpable.

This is definitely the worst of the franchise.

reply

It's because the Chinese are low self-esteem losers that can only take pride upon seeing Caucasians get their ass kicked by kung fu. I'm Chinese myself, and this is an aspect of my culture I'm not at all proud of.

reply

Isn't that what happens with american action movies were the bad guys are usually Russian, Chinese or Muslims.

How many american kung-fu movies are out there are even decent nowadays?

Maybe if hollywood gave guys like Scott Adkins, Michael Jai White decent kung-fu movies they would't have to become brutes in asian movies where they can showcase there skills and make a name no doubt either of those would have made a name in hollywood.

I would rather watch a kung-fu guy fighting a brute then 2 skinny guys fighting each other especially as asian movies showcase both there talents because lets face it western actors bodybuild with or without taking steriods.

Nationalistic propaganda by Chinese govt. Diff btw a democracy and a dictatorship.

They also like 2 rewrite history and use Japan as scapegoatz

reply

You can still have nationalistic propaganda in modern democratic countries.

reply

U can. I only answerin his ques on why American govt don’t care bout such moviez and why Chinese govt wud ban any movie wid slight hint of rebellion. I surprised they haven’t banned Star Wars yet.

Films have foreign enemies.
If the film is foreign to the U.S , said enemy well be the U.S. . simple.

"Funny how Americans don't give a shit about it"
Clearly you do, you seem to be all upset about it.

Americans don't boycott movies that are perceived to be anti American like the Chinese do. One guy on the forum doesn't count as the whole country. Btw the Chinese even threaten and boycott not just supposed anti Chinese things, but anything critical of their government and even how they treat their people.

reply

Most of the villains in this series have been Asian. There was one white bad guy in the second movie but he was a Brit, not American. This one is the first to have evil Americans.

reply

Have you seen the third part? Mike Tyson is the bad guy.

reply

He is a bad guy and a very noble one at that as he holds his promise to leave if IP Man survives a fight with him for 90 seconds. The Triads are the main villains and the final battle is with an Asian swordsman.

reply

All other movies are happening in China so it's no surprising bad guys are Chinese. The main bad guy in the second film was a cardboard racist anti Chinese westerner. This movie is about as explicitly racist Chinese propaganda as it gets.

reply

All Chinese movies are state Communist propaganda. They don't get green lit unless the CCP allows it.

reply

It's not just propaganda, it's how the CCP are focusing their population on a future conflict with the US. It's well known that their military *(and the American one for that matter) foresee a US/China war as the next large conflict. Quite possibly over the South China Sea, where China has been illegally creating islands on shoals and reefs, and converting those to military bases (basically aircraft carriers without the need of a ship), and harassing the fishing fleets of local nations.
