Heart- lifting

And awe-inspiring...It's a pity the modern Olympics have lost the true spirit of amateurism, and are more concerned with chasing filthy lucre-I'm a Londoner, and am already heartily sick of the self-propagation and self-congratulation we've already seen, and the opening ceremony isn't for another 48 hours!..In 1948, these were the austerity Olympics, not just for GB, but for most of the competing countries-perhaps we should take a leaf out of their book, and get back to what counts-the athletes' performance, not the ridiculous freakshow it has become-still perhaps after this 2012 Olympiad has finally bankrupted our economy, we can go back to food & fuel rationing to pay for it all!..
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe...

Now sixty per cent of people living outside London have no interest in this over-blown charade yet the BBC insists on ramming it down our throats. I think I shall be rediscovering my vinyl and old DVDs and going to the pictures more over the next couple of weeks. I agree with you about the programme - corny but it took you with it all the way. I trust we will see Sam Hoare in other things.

I'd love to go to the pictures more. But, there's no point even trying to go to Loughborough's Odeon in the school holidays and Leicester's Phoenix doesn't seem to be showing anything remotely appealing while the Olympics are on.
