Let's Have a Cromwell Oscar Campaign

I fear his performance will not make the cut for the Oscars due to gross neglect.

He insists on being called Jamie (thinks he's getting in trouble from his mother when people call him James), is against animal testing, which is so sweet for a guy who plays terrific villains, and gave a doozy of a first lead performance after all these years in supporting roles.

The Academy Awards twitter is @TheAcademy. Mine is @moviejay. Please gently remind them to at least get around to watching Still Mine. I know I'm going to starting now and every day for the next little while. These people want to nominate deserving actors, but there are so many movies these days that I think it would be useful to urge them in the right direction.

It's an affecting, human story with a character who has stayed with me for months now, a tough-as-nails 87 yr-old guy with a built-to-last kind of character made of grit and sweat and self-determination. It's a life affirming movie and one of the best examples of creating a full, rich, and memorable onscreen character.

Jamie Cromwell for a Best Actor nomination.

Just made my first tweet.

I'm going to keep at it and hope for the best. It's one of the year's hidden gems.

I feel the same as you. I think that he will receive a nomination. The buzz about the movie is laying the groundwork for Cromwell to be recognized for this film as well as his body of work. Hollywood & the Academy love to see this scenario fulfilled.
The good news is that beside "The Grand Budapest Hotel", I am at a loss for any films that are worthy of an Oscar nomination. ( I know that I am forgetting something ... and the best is always saved for the Christmas rush). Plus as an American, I love to watch an compromised story of life in Canada. My respect for the Canadians knows no bounds.
