Not a single redeeming quality about AoT Live Action

*beep* acting, horrible story adaptation, no character development, mediocre effects and last of all filled to the brink with minor retardations..

Like so this guy can throw a titan? These guy train to kill titans by hitting their neck.. so this dude has an axe and no gear to get around. Then this girl has a bow? A BOW? what?

I could go on and on and on..

Please stop making more of these and get on with season 2 of the anime!

You are absolutly right about the terrible effects. They take you out of the movie. But I have to say the tone of the movie is really good. The first attack was hard to look at. Very depressing and scary in a ugly way. But overall to cheap looking movie for 2015. Even from Japan.

reply

I thought the movie was decent, and while i thought the Titans were pretty creepy (specifically the baby one) the colossal Titan looked too fake for me. I mean i don't expect oscar worthy effects or anything, but that did take me out of the moment when he showed up. Everything else about the first attack was well done for me.

Also what the *beep* at the dude who could toss the titan, and why the hell didn't he use that more often. And while i liked sasha, her using the bow was retarded.

did laugh at eren getting cockblocked by the titan though.

reply

100% agreed on the comments the effects weren't great on the collousal Titan but I thought the rest was pretty decent, and the fight at the end when eren was going through those Titans was pretty cool. I'd give it a 6-7/10 will definetly be watching part 2

reply

I thought the titans being creepy as f@ck in this version was a redeeming quality.

reply

totally agree... the titans were surprisingly well done (except the colossal titan, which really looked worse than the anime). the baby titan omg... such an effective scene! though i think that might get retconned by the manga/anime (the original series never showed any juvenile titans ever).

the acting was just terrible... zero gravitas. did the actors even watch the source material? their acting felt uncomfortably similar to hollywood's cheesy YA productions and pop idol vehicles. if they were trying to channel battle royale, they failed royally.

some of the green screen stuff came off as really cheap too. i can see they choreographed the 3D gear flights fairly well, but the colour palettes were so noticeably off... they shouldn't have done follow-shots over flaming light sources if they didn't have the budget. but the gritty setting is pretty effective (minus the trucks. cmon... titans can hear human voices, but they ignore truck noises? gee. why not do bicycles or something?)

overall, the film failed to impress because they chose to include extremely popular characters from the series, gave them near zero character development, and reworked most of their plotlines. if they wanted to do a re-imagining, why not stick with an original story with new characters in another part of the same universe? pretty sure there are many other horrified youths from the outer wall.

reply

Loved it! Titans were creepy and scary, the 3D gear was slick, and can't wait for the second movie.

Did you expect a 26 movie release so it could cover every tiny detail in the manga? It's a companion to the manga and anime, Titan's made real. Awesome.

- IMHO...Movies last 10 years keep getting blander, TV Shows keep getting better.

reply

I liked the titans look as well. The only thing I thought was stupid was the the point about them not having any reproductive organs, yet you could tell which titans were male annd which one were female.

reply

But they didn't have any in the anime either.

reply

"Did you expect a 26 movie release so it could cover every tiny detail in the manga?"

Most of us expect the story to be faithful and not devoid of major events and characters.

It sounds like it sucks major donkey balls. You must not have read the manga nor seen the anime.

And you signature completely invalidates your stated opinions.

reply

Well considering many have viewed this as a Live action NOT for fans. Which although as fan, is smart. Let's be honest, any 90 minute live action for just about any big anime would fall short so why bother. If anything this might attract more people to the anime. Anecdotal, but I have a few friends who don't watch anime, but after watching are giving it a go. Success in my book.

reply

Also, the title is complete grammatical nonsense. There is no attack on the moon Titan.

reply

The movie was quite bad, but I have to say that I rather liked the look of the Titans. But that was perhaps the only good thing about the movie.

reply

What little the movie did right was due to staying true to the anime. All that it did wrong was due to straying from the story.

Just one of the worst movies i have seen in a long long while.

You are the one named Flamboyant_Little_Devil and your picture looks like a fangirlie ...

You also like to obscure the issue at hand:

1) you have never watched the anime
2) you are promoting this movie as if it is better
3) you are attacking anyone who tells the truth (the movie is terrible)

reply

^^^^ enraged fangirlie is enraged 

And your trolling won't make this movie any better.

As the OP states, there is "not a single redeeming quality about AoT Live Action" and if you had actually watched the anime you would understand.

Then again, you are probably getting paid to promote this shameless movie.

Oh I love how everyone is commenting on the LOOKS, the CGI, and the ACTION... Like it was SUPPOSED to be another cheap and retarded summer flick with all flash and no substance. Which it definitely wound up as, and that's MY problem with it. It's NOT okay. The anime itself (and the manga, of course) is a fine drama, it's clever and horrifying and it doesn't draw its awesomeness from jump scares, gore, overacting or infantile jealousy. It deals with courage and fear, desperation and ignorance, greed and corruption, friendship and trust, family and responsibility, perseverance, discrimination, animal instincts and all the monsters inside our minds. It's deep as *beep*. The movie captured nearly none of that. And if you say there wasn't enough time, well, they could've very well made it TWICE AS LONG. Yes, movies can be 3 hours long. And they can have more than 3 parts. And they're largely pointless if based on games or manga+anime, but can still be successful; eg. live action Death Note is quite bearable, even though more than half of it was cut. AoT just isn't.
