He shouldn't have been able to break a hole in the wall itself, but the movie makes the wall out to be less than it really is.
In the anime/manga, he kicks in the DOOR. Big difference. HUGE difference. But his intention was open a breech so the regular titans would get inside ... he has other plans ... (at least in the actual story as presented by the anime/manga)
He fell down a plot hole during the attack scene.
shareKeeping in mind I have not seen the anime or the second movie, I just assume the biggest Titan only helps the others get passed the wall, and has no interest in feeding on people. But a preview in the end credits makes me think Eren will fight it. Is the giant Titan also sentient like Eren's Titan sort of was? Was the masked person trying to steal the explosives truck actually the human form of this giant Titan? I'm probably getting ahead of myself, but I look forward to seeing Part 2.

In the anime it quickly appears and disappears immediately after breaking a whole in the wall. It's in ep 1. You're right that it's only to let the others in.
