Checkpoints and respawning enemies.

Anyone else finding the checkpoint system in this game extremely irritating? I don't mean the sneaking about to find the things rather the fact that if you've taken out a load of enemies, used a checkpoint and then re-started from it all the dead enemies are re-spawned and on patrol again!

Hopefully this can be fixed with a patch but it seems unbelievable to me that the makers of the game released it with such an obvious bug that seems to be frustrating many gamers, myself included.

Apart from that (significant) grumble, it's a great game, possibly the best in the series.

You've got red on you..

Funny, because the lack of save points is why Hitman Agent 47 was panned by most. A lot of the missions were way too long and complex in that game.

And the only thing that puts the Hitman series above all other shooters is when something is dead, it stays dead, and the body is always there. Otherwise it may as well be called every other generic gay shooter.

Yeah, my first playthru didn't have me using any of the checkpoints, but I definitely miss the manual saves on easier settings. Using the checkpoints when going for certain playstyles, it's annoying to backtrack just a bit only to run into a group of enemies I already (slowly and methodically) neutralized, effectively ruining all my work.
Anyway, really loving the game, but I seriously hope they tweak certain things about it, because I'll probably be replaying this at least as long as I did 'Blood Money' (which I played frequently almost until the release of 'Absolution').

I'm glad I am not the only one really irritated by this. I liked the way the saves worked on Blood Money just fine. I saw no need to change it.

It's so frustrating to do all this work, hide all these bodies, have my target right where I want them, only to reload a checkpoint and everything is undone and reset to where the script starts at the beginning of the mission. I mean, I had a guard sitting right next to me when I reloaded the checkpoint. What the hell is the point of having them if nothing stays the same when you use them?

I really hope this was a bug and something they will fix and not something done deliberately.

That and also killing a target with a silenced weapon from a distance, only to have every guard know your exact location as soon as the body hits the floor. Might as well use a cannon and be wearing those shoes kids wear that light up when you walk.

Other than those two issues, great game!

I think I only had one issue where re-spawned guys at a check point got me annoyed. (It was in the orphanage when I wanted to go back upstairs. But I ended up just non-stealthily murdering everybody in the level because what they did was un-cool.)
As for the Silenced weapon, I guess this must have been patched? I only got the game recently and I’ve gotten quite a few targets with both a silenced and unsilenced sniper rifle. Though I was a bit of a distance in both instances!

the only time it affected me was when i was escaping from Travis in that one city block and took a guard's outfit who later was in the same spot after the checkpoint even tho i had his outfit. the other times it didn't affect me because you're not even supposed to kill or take out other enemies that much anyways to be a proper hitman, so i didn't really feel the effects of a bunch respawning since i didn't kill many to begin with.

I used to be indecisive. Now, I'm not so sure.

"Why would it be coded this way?" is what I was asking myself. Checkpoints bring dead people back to life. That's a ridiculous concept. There were occasions where it helped me complete a challenge but I still hated it.
