Terrible

I could barely get through this film. The subject matter is, of course, sensitive, but I did not realize that it would be so explicit. Beyond heart-wrenching and hit way too close to home.

7/10. Will never watch this movie again.

No. It had a terrible effect on me. Great film, but not one I could ever watch again.

This movie hit me in ways I didn't even know were possible. I have NEVER seen such graphic abuse scenes. The only one that comes to mind is Mysterious Skin, and while excruciating, it was not as long as these repeated assaults of children. It was impossible to watch those scenes. I had to look away. I wanted to plug my ears. This movie was so *beep* painful.

The most painful parts of the movie for me is when the teacher kept repeatedly letting them down. I felt like I was letting them down. I felt that society was letting them down. He was the only one they could trust and he let them down. I know it's not his fault, but still... They had no one else.

You shouldn't have rated the film.
If you didn't see all of it, don't bother rating it.
By all means give it a bad rating if you watched it in full.

This movie is terrifying for the right reasons. The subject matter is terrifying.
Witnessing snapshots of the abuse made me feel outraged and want to look away, but that is what so many people have done to wrong the kids involved in this movie -> book -> REAL EVENT.

I know you posted two years ago, but I had to stop it at certain points and ask myself if I wanted to continue. The true events are horrible, but in depicting them, I always worry about how this stuff is filmed. It as very well made, but I had trouble even telling a friend (who has a child), what the film was about.

I don't get why people complain about crude scenes when they are well done.

You do realize that this is the point? To make us feel things? Furious, impotent, useless, sad?

Because of this movie even Korean laws were changed. The old case was reopened, the statute of limitations was abolished!

The outrage caused by those scenes made it possible, why are people saying "It was hard for me to watch, I give it an 7 because of that".

Sure, it's your choice, your right, but it's not fair when a movie it's so well done and had a purpose and even caused that the laws of a Country were changed.

For me that's a reason to give it even a higher rating, when a movie makes me feel stuff, because through movies like this our eyes are opened to sad realities and in this case, fortunately, it made a huge change.
