Tried to make a Dogman Film in '04

Back around 2004 I looked into making the Legend story into a feature film.
I had even spoke with Jack O' Malley about using the song in the film.
He was all for it and ready to green light the idea.
However when I went to get funding for the film, let's just say people were not ringing the phone off the hook to help.
I was looking at making the film right from the song itself.
I wanted to make the film about the 1980's story in the song and then go from there.
I grew up hearing this song, and live very near the locations.
It was my goal to make this film just as outstanding and scary as the song.
Flash forward to 2010 and I heard Bauer Productions decided to make this film.
When I first heard the story line, I knew it would flop and not work.
I understand they had a very low budget to make this one.
So I can also understand why it would not be as great as say a $1,000,000.00 budget would have made.
However with that said, when you are a Producer and Director there comes a time when you have to say if I do not have enough of a budget to make a great film, I will not make it at all.
The very reason why my Production Company and I did not even go past the funding stages of our version.
I am sorry Mr. Bauer but this film was not even close.
Looked like it was made by an Amatuer who just started making films.
I hope in the future someone will make a film about the song that really uplifts the story we all grew up with.
It may be my production company and I, or someone else.
Either way make sure the budget is good enough to make a great film.

Thanks
