Sooooo....what did you think?

Personally, i though it was kinda all over the place at times, visually stunning but story wise lucking a bit, nice ending though..

reply

Visually it was very stunning. The whole thing with the diaries was totally inconsistent and you pretty much had to accept that the anime was really a twisted love story. There was one great scene towards the end that really stuck with me.

reply

It was good, but Yuno made it worthwhile. She was a great character and she carried the majority of the show imo.

"I'm so brilliant!"

reply

I thought Yuno's character was all over the place. I loved her but sometimes it seemed like the writers didn't exactly know what to do with her.

Minene is amazing though. Loved her to pieces, happy for her at the end.

reply

This absolutely.

Gave up after several episodes. Visually it's great, and the idea is very interesting and original, but there were too many anime cliches that ruined the atmosphere for me. They could've made something great with it, something like Death note, instead they turned into a dragged marathon for weeaboos with a pathetic main character who was so annoying I was actually hoping that he'll die.

I think this anime could be remade into an awesome one, but as it is it's just a drag.

reply

I'm in agreement. I foun the premise, the core idea, interesting, and liked most of the Characters, but it just didn't make sense half the Time.

SPOILERS.

For example, Deus Ex machina wants to appoitn a successor ro become the new god of Tiem and Space, and his method for choosign hsi successor is to have a Hunger Games liek contest in which theone whose he msot skilled at killing everyoe else wins? Er, how si that a godo idea/ You'll either end up with a psychop[ath winnign because he is thebest at nto caring abotu others, or else you'll make soemone a psychopath in order to win, and thus survive, or elseyou'll leae whoever wins by chance or skill so traumatised he won't bne very effecive.

How was that a good idea?

I also want to know how 3 came back to life is you cant raise th dead. When he as first given his Phone, he bro it and died, and it was repaied and he came back onlyto brak it again. it may have been a funny scene and all btu it made no sense whatsoever i=given hat we learn a the end.

reply

He also wanted to be entertained and is there a better way of doing so than giving 12 people truly free will? he says himself how 1 in particular had surprised him and in a couple of occasions he stated that it's getting interesting. Deus is a god how hard is it to think of him having a twisted idea of fun?

3 never came back apart from when 1 and 2 went into the other timeline, the scenes with mer mer at the ends of the episodes aren't actually part of the story otherwise Aru Akise would be a kid by the end(he took the pill to get on a train and mer mer couldn't) they were made to add comic relief which i believe they done so excellently.

reply

Actually your question about Deus can be easily explained.

First, what is the point of the contest? Simple: If they all have knowledge of the future, they need to know how to change the future properly during the fights. Ergo, the person who wins is in fact, the best master of time and is most worthy of the title as the new god of space and time.

Second, your assumption that the winner will be a psycho is only half of it. That was exactly the point of the bet Deus had with Murmur. If you'll notice, they represent both possibilities.

Murmur said he thinks Yuno will win. She's the psycho who is into the killing.
Deus said Yuki will win. He is the opposite. He is the person that keeps trying to protect everyone. His ideal situation is to finish the contest and save everyone and until that day comes, he's all for trying to save everyone as much as he can.

That is why Seven and Eight had no problem dying in front of him. He's the classic anime cliche like in Yugioh where the protagonist will fight other people but will strive to actually make them friends (This is especially obvious during the thing with Tenth and the dogs).

If you'll notice in the OVA, Deus asks Mineme to be a god for the exact same reason - out of friendship rather than cruelty. She's the one that fixed everyone's lives in the third world.

Future Diary is such a binge worthy show that it’s a crime not a lot of anime fans have known or watched it yet. You should explain a little more about the story cause the love story between the two characters, Yuki & Yuno, are kinda the real prize of it. I was hooked by the first episode and died when I saw the ending by how emotional it all gets. I watched it in three days! I'm obessed with it and am wondering how Hollywood or someone like David Fincher hasn't tried to bring this to the big screen or the small screen in a US version.

reply

I thought it was a ripoff of Higurashi, but Higurashi does it a million times better!

reply

I'm only on episode ten. It's decent, but I also don't feel that strong urge to watch multiple episodes at a time, like I do with other anime. It has a good premise, but the execution isn't quite there for me.
