Hmm, questions.

So, like a lot of movies based on controversial events, this movie looks fishy. As an American, I fully realize that Americans are just as prone to false information/patriotism as any other group of people. But also, as an American, I can watch an American movie that may include propaganda and realize it's propaganda (or so I hope). However, with something like this, I'm not sure.

I can make assumptions based on the votes that something is up. 8+/10 with 5,600 users ... but only 2 critic reviews? This thread here is only the second one to be created. Around 23 user reviews and many of them are negative. Most of the user ratings are 10/10 ...

So, this leads me to my main question: is this propaganda?
My second question: even if it is ... is it at least a decent movie? I have a hard time believing the iMDB rating and I have plenty of other choices I could spend 2+hrs on.

83% of voters gave it a 10/10... Yes, it's fishy.

It's not bad or I shall say, it's not a total crap (but there're plenty of better films to spend 2 hours with), but yeah, it smells of some propaganda and made with best tradtions of "I will make you cry and win an Oscar"...

reply

I don't think it's propaganda, at least I don't think it was meant to be.

And to answer your second question, well it's not great. I wouldn't give it an 8.3. But it's not crappy either. I think it's decent. The main actress is really bad thought. But maybe you won't notice it much. And the story is kind of all over the place. But if you want to watch it, just do it. I mean it't not like they are the last 2 hours of your life. Just watched when you have the chance( if you are interested of course) because this is just my opinion. Most of the people from my country like it a lot, so maybe you'll like it a lot too.

I ask why the word "propaganda"?

Anyway, it's clear as day there's just people with a mkd background justvoting cause of it's origin...

As for how good it is, i'm a fan of movies about the Nazi era and of sports (and a little biased because I have a Mkd background), so I liked it. Granted it's not super awesome, but like I said I enjoyed it. You're not always going to end up liking a movie you initially anticipated anyway, just watch it...

reply

Yeah, why the word "propaganda"? The movie just shows once again that the politics is a bitch and we have to live with the history. I don't know if there are only facts, actually I doubt it, but it is supposed to be art there too. So I just enjoyed it.

When you use the word propaganda ... you should ask the questions ...

1. By whom
2. With what intention

Gribble has not come back since his OP so I gotta figure he spent some time with a dictionary.

You reply to a 3 year old thread with an insult that wasn't even necessary. So, my apologies for being a dick right back to you.

I never came back to the thread because there was a complete lack of discussion or interest in the film. Also, I'm fully aware of the definition of propaganda, are you? If you read carefully, I asked "is this propaganda?", I did not definitively state it was propaganda.

I noticed you posted a thread about how much you liked the film, perhaps I should throw an petty, presumptive insult your way over there. (I won't, don't wait up.)
