Movie Released on Limited Engagement

I am just hearing about this movie from an art house chain I get emails from. I adore Alan Cummings and the story has piqued my curiosity. It is not playing within a 50 mile radius of me though I live just outside LA so I doubt if I am going to see it til the DVD comes out, but I have high hopes for it come awards season. The critics seem to like it even if the only user review guy seems to think he knows everything about what happened with ALL gay couples back in the 70's...it only takes one couple to have this kind of story so don't listen to him and see it for yourself and come back and give some real reviews..I am curious to read them.

It's funny that this is in Arthouse release. Dare I say it looks like it might have more mainstream appeal?

TimBur77, have you seen what earns the most money in theaters these days? It's the comic book heroes, animation and anything with nudity, sex and violence. The higher the ridiculous body count, the better. Even Lincoln which should appeal to everyone is being touted as too slow and too much dialogue. I don't know what they expected....another film full of dead bodies all over and headless horseman or some such nonsense. It has grown in viewership because mainly of older audiences imo. Take a look at the nonsense posted on the board for it on here.

In a world where people will watch the most stupid so called reality shows where women are fighting and turning over tables, a movie about a mentally disabled boy and a gay couple will not get much attention from the mainstream. Even I am afraid to see it in theaters if it does come my way because I am a sniveling cry baby at anything the tiniest bit sad and I don't want to cause a distraction for anybody. I may watch for the DVD to see it.

I see your point. I sat through Lincoln twice in one weekend. it's the best movie I have seen all year.

Hey, I live outside L.A. too and if there is a theater showing it around where we both are. Let's see it together and I will be the bigger crybaby so you won't ahve to feel too bad! haha.

Thanks for the offer, you never know what will happen but if 77 is the year you were born, I have a daughter much older than you are. If it is your age, then we might have more fun...haha. I live east of La, and you?
