Watching it now, just started, and I immediately thought Wes Anderson - Grand Bateman Hotel!

OMG, I'm 5 minutes into the film and I came here to post the very same thing. It totally is a Wes Andersen wanna be film. Pretty shameless about it too.
Review just posted on bluray.com (http://www.blu-ray.com/The-Longest-Week/338939/#Preview). And the very first line of the review says "There’s influence and then there’s theft. “The Longest Week” lands somewhere between the two extremes, with writer/director Peter Glanz making sure the world understands that he loves the work of Woody Allen and Wes Anderson."
shareIn that blu-ray.com review Dylan is referred to as an art dealer, but there's no mistaking that he's actually an artist. Clearly Brian's viewing was hurried.
I think it's ludicrous to insinuate that Wes Anderson and Woody Allen are, by this metric, not also thieves. Histrionics much?
Everything Anderson does is appropriated from another place and time. He's a pastiche filmmaker and storyteller. That's kind of the point. He wasn't the pioneer of chapter cards or anachronistic wardrobe and set decorations.
I love Anderson's work, but I'm not about to stand on a soapbox and insist that what he does is bathed in "originality" and that it must not (in)directly inspire other filmmakers. What I like most about Anderson is that there's no pretense of "originality" in his work; it borrows and lifts liberally from our collective social histories and it's beautiful and resonant for doing so. He's not the first or last artist to follow this vein. These purist arguments are exercises in futility, truly.
It's better than pretentious anderson
Werd 2 ur mudda, bruddafckka
We could certainly use more Wes Anderson wannabes from my perspective. One movie from Wes about every 3 years is not nearly enough to satisfy my craving for films of his style. Yearning to see this movie now. Let me know if you come across any other Wes wannabes so I can check out their films!
shareI concur.
shareSeems more Whit Stillman to me.
shareJust had to listen to the opening narration and immediately thought of a Wes Anderson rip-off.
Liberate tu temet ex inferis.
