Why you should ignore comments on iMDB

WOW! Cannot believe all the negative comments about this film. Sounds like these folks basically wanted to watch a slash 'em up horror film and instead were handed a very well-done cerebral film with story line and it left them scratching their heads in abject stupidity. I wonder if the director owes them money...or killed their puppy.

Loved this film. Good twists and turns. Nice creepy moments. Not very predictable. Great cinematography. It's not a gore fest. It's not a slash em up. If you like smart horror, this is your movie. If you want to see torture porn, I'm sure there's an Eli Roth movie on netflix somewhere...

I liked this movie and I agree with you that most of the comments on here are not fair as many of the most negative commentators did not even finish watching it. THIS BEING SAID, there were some things that did not sit well with me. I love horror movies, and I can accept/enjoy an ambiguous ending but for me Luis being the killer the whole time was a bit too much of a stretch. Why would he have looked into the original Joy/Lara case for their mother? He murdered Joy and Lara but it was unclear what killed Brian and Janine and tried to kill Ella -- my first reaction after the ending was that they were killed by Luis and the Ghosts had nothing to do with it but then why would Luis have pulled Ella out of the house after trapping her there to begin with? Why would he have let the other officer even get through to his own bedroom? If it was the ghosts who killed them, why would the ghosts of two murdered young girls try to murder two other young girls in the same way? I liked how the stories tied together until they linked it all to "it was the cop the whole time" because this means that he's completely deranged and unaware even of what he's doing...maybe the mother was possessing him all along? This made the ending less enjoyable/believable for me personally. This being said, I'm definitely open to explanations from people who understood it more than I did. Like I said, I didn't think it was a bad movie, but the people who say it didn't make sense aren't necessarily incorrect.
