How did they get to this situation?

1. It seems like he doesn't go to school, but I don't remember anything mentioned directly. Maybe he did the stealing after the school. Or maybe it was spring holiday or something.

2. Martin Compston character asked him the same question... joking that he will probably steal bikes in the summer. We don't know, but he was quite an experienced thief... He seemed to know a bit about cars. Seriously, what a ridiculous question.

3. Most do, but not everyone.

Apart from the first one, irrelevant questions.

More relevant question would be, for example, about his stealing- dozens of skis and other equipment is stolen from some fancy ski resort in a relatively short period of time. The kid is far from a perfect thief and doesn't even try to be invisible. Let's face it, there are great chances he'd get caught very, very quickly. Not to mention that incident when the guy beats him up and supposedly nothing happens afterwards. But I didn't mind it.

My first thought was how did a rich socially oriented country like Switzerland allow this, it's not like they are living in Moldova or Albania. What about social workers, welfare etc? Since she is his mother they probably get some kind of state support that's why they can afford an apartment to pay the bills I assume.
