wtf the end

How could that government guy at the end not notice a huge friggin t rex when he was facing it

reply

It wasn't a T Rex. Velociraptor, maybe, and the cleaner didn't see it coming up behind him from the direction of his car because he was intent on checking out the camera retrieved from the girl he just shot.

reply

lol dude it was a t rex because you could see the signature stubby little arms that t rex's have and even if he was looking at the camera something that big you would notice out of the corner of your eye and hear its footsteps

reply

Yep because all the meat eating dinosaurs would just stomp around making as much noise as possible when trying to find their next meal. /sarcasm off >.<

reply

It was way too small to be a t-rex though....

Likely a raptor, and they do kind of look like mini-t-rex really.

Still stupid though, they were obviously supposed to be dead I thought...overdone but it would've been better than that.

Yeah, because T-rexes just magically spring to life full size. They don't hatch from eggs and then grow.

Well you obviously thought wrong. Your first clue should have been the title of the movie. Area 407. Like Area 51. Secret government project.

Second clue. That it was taking so long for a rescue team to show up. Civilian S&R can't just invade a protected government base.

Third, the strange animal sounds.

Fourth, the waggling striped tail of the creature that was attacking them. Then the snout with teeth at the door. It fairly screamed DINOSAUR.

Fifth clue, The fact that the 'rescuers' with the amplified PA didn't drive over to them and split the moment they heard the animal noises. They obviously knew what it was and were scared.

Sixth, if all this weren't enough, the signs on the fence warning that it was a military installation and that deadly force would be used on trespassers.

The seventh is the warning leader at the front of the film. It was innocuous at the time, but it makes sense by the end of the film. It implies that someone got into the area and found the camera and turned the footage over to the FAA crash investigators.

Another thing, the T-rex at the end was clearly not the animal(s) that was chasing them in the dark. We see that animal's head is only window high when it attacks the last four in the SUV. So it's a younger T-rex or a smaller carnivorous therapod that had attacked them earlier. We know there were clearly more of them since we see eggs just before Charley disappears. The operative point being the military was breeding them, probably with an eye towards using them as weapons.

"they were obviously supposed to be dead I thought..."

haha, wow. That almost sounds like you think there could be a T-rex or two left.

I think it fairly obvious that the movie was depicting some sort of secret military dino cloning/breeding experiment, and these people just crashed into this military base, and had to be eliminated to protect the government secret, so either they let the dinosaurs hunt them or they just would kill them otherwise.

My problem was how terribly unrealistic this was considering how easy it was for the t-rex and the two girls to get out. That is no well contained military secret! And the dialogue was awful-- not engaging or witty. And when the two girls die at the end, even though in most films, that would be heartbreaking, it wasn't. The younger girl was annoying. Most of the characters were pretty annoying.

Made me wanna go enjoy a classic like Jurassic Park or Cloverfield.

People tend to be oblivious to what's going on around them. Especially when they're one the phone/radio and doing something else. People don't multi-task very well. That's why there's laws on the books in many places about talking on a cell phone while driving.

How come you know so much about such a totally forgettable film?

Are you getting paid?

Seriously I missed most of that stuff you posted up there, and I'm not usually like that...

reply

Raptor? Really?

Am I the only one who watches dinosaur films and actually knows anything about dinosaurs, such as: raptors were only a couple feet tall? Derp?

"iamthehollow" represents everything that is wrong with these forums. You assume someone MUST be paid if their opinion doesn't match yours. Pathetic. Maybe you should watch less movies and spend more time getting a life.

Dudes, I know the topic is a few days old but here's a screencap:

Velociraptors are rather small the average humans waistline is over the Velociraptors head only the jurassic park movies made everyone believe they were huge.

reply

Also doesn't recent evidence say that they where covered in feathers?

You're a load in my pants Al - Officer Dan

Utahraptor's claim to fame is that it was the largest raptor ever to walk the earth; adults measured about 25 feet from head to tail and weighed in the neighborhood of 1,000 to 2,000 pounds.
Derp.

You know the end is the most annoying part of the movie. I found a few moments to be annoying, but the ending was the last straw (literaly). They should have ended it when the guy shot the woman and girl at the end. Then and only then should the credits be allowed to roll. But nah typical horror movie cliche where either the women survive or everyone gets kliled. It's the later one in this case. The end was pretty damn bad and I don't normally complain about an ending unless it is one of two types of endings mentioned above.

The guy was too intent on getting what te girls had tat could be potential trouble.
Seriously, you have to assume this government facility was run by a bunch of hack idiots anyhow. Ones who couldn't even properly clean up their own mess.
Since these "hybrid" test-kitchen dinosaur and his buddies got loose in the first place, I believe they ma not even have known what they were doing. Much like real life actually.
I don't think the movie was depicting a specific type of dinosaur anyhow. They were creating these animals for warfare, so it really doesn't matter what "type" they were anyhow.

Be kind. Don't Flame.

I guess these idiots couldn't run a secret government facility, hence Area 407. 407 is probably the reject 51.

no matter how concentrated i am on something, if i can spot a fly´s movement with the corner of my eye, i can clearly see a FRIGGING DINOSAUR THE SIZE OF A CAR heading towards me from the left.

reply

the ending was disturbing. I expected something to happen. but not THAT. when they got in the car, I was expecting the guy to take them in as prisoners. not straight up murder 2 girls. that was messed up. I've never seen a movie where someone shot a 14 year old girl before. I know they didn't actually SHOW it... but still. I'm happy he got eaten. but the ending still pisses me off.they should have at least let the little sister get away. maybe the dino shows up earlier, and eats the guy while he's aiming at the girl. and she runs off

Maybe it was an Allosaurus, They were smaller than a Trex but a 1000 times more vicious and dangerous, according to all the Paleontologists. Unlike the Trex and like their smaller cousins, An Allosaurus was as smart if not more so than a V. raptor. And unlike a T-rex which were known for being scavengers oddly enough not aggressors, The Allosaurus was known to be a true hunting Carnivore. Then again maybe Ingen created a hybrid dinosaur and mystically teleported it to this movie. BTW the movie wasn't that bad. Better than the other couple dozen cam held crap flicks I've seen.

You guys are all idiots.

Don't forget that it also stealthed its way around like Sam Fisher behind the plane, killed the air hostess and made good its escape. Silently, undetected. with a group of people about ten feet away.
