Very Well Done

I thought HBO did an excellent job with the adaptation and the acting was top notch. Another winner for HBO Films.

I thought it was good but not great. Christopher Plummer was brilliant though.

reply

Some of the acting was very good but seemed rather worthy and earnest.

Its that man again!!

reply

Maybe that is because it was a "worthy and earnest" cause which was defended...vs being screwed over by political motivations...

Just watched it today. Not one moment did I ever think this was a TV film. Acting, writing, directing and all other aspects of production for this film was astonishing. It had a Spielbergian Lincoln like vibe and Christopher Plummer has become one of my favorite actors in this film.

I agree, Plummer was outstanding. As a kid growing up in the '60's, and a big fight fan, the use of real film clips of the demonstrations brought back memories. Watching the Ali clips, reminded me of why I have such a high opinion of him.

I truly enjoyed the movie, haven't read the book it was adapted from. I wonder how much the clerk Connoly's opinion influenced Harlan's change of mind. In other words, how much the movie was dramatized.
